Midnight Rant

My online work is pretty slow lately that I spend most of my time watching Asian drama and horror movies. Hubby is now complaining because I’m neglecting some of the house chores “hehehhe”. I am now watching the Hometown Legends, it’s a Korean fantasy and horror drama and I’m in the second episode now. I will not write anything about it and spoil the whole movie, you might get interested and watch it too.


Anyway, I don’t have much to share but will give you a short update of hubby’s job hunting. We still don’t have any luck yet and we are both getting desperate. His now planning to re-enlist in the army and hopefully go back to school sometimes for some trainings and will just see what will happen next. Honestly, I just want him to find a job with a decent pay enough for us to live life normally.

Truck Driving School

Hubby is still in job hunting mood and were both hoping he will find one very soon. We’ve posted his resume online and everyday we received calls from different places. He did couple of phone interviews and so far no follow up calls yet. I hope he will get interested about going back to school. I’ve told him to give truck driving school a try because the demand is always high in this area. He told me that he will think about it. I know his not crazy about driving long hours. Anyway, we hope to find something soon before the bank will kick us out in this house.

Ranting

I haven’t done anything productive lately. I spent most of my time playing with the kids, window shopping and chit chatting with some relatives and friends back home. I am bored and tired of our current situation, we still don’t have any information from the company about the job in other plants. It’s very frustrating but we are trying to keep ourselves together and hoping to hear something nice this week.


I am still packing and I have so much more to pack and get rid off. I am seriously thinking about a garage sale next weekend and maybe send some of the stuffs to Goodwill. I am tired and I could use some help, Ate Delia will drop by tomorrow with more boxes and tapes. She’s the only friends that I can count on and I hope I am not a pain of her butt “hehehe”. Vacation Canceled

Were supposed to drive down to Mobil, Alabama in the morning but canceled our reservation this afternoon. I felt disappointed because I was very excited to finally see the USS Alabama Battleship. We’ve spent too much at the Vet for Ruffy today and Zack still a bit ill, his not very sick but we we’ve decided to stay home and let him get better. I talked to his teacher and school nurse today and they’ve told me that there some stomach virus around the school. I am glad that my Dylan is holding good and was not sick again. The little boy went home by bus all by himself and was never scared.

Anyway, were still planning to drive down to Mobil maybe during the fall break of the kids next month. I still don’t have any news about Joe’s work, so I cannot share any thing right now. His going back to work tomorrow night and I hope we will hear something from the company so I can continue on my packing. I still have so much packing to do and hopefully will finish before the second week of October. Will see then.

Purple Yam

Yes, the photo is a Filipino delicacy and it’s one of my favorites. Ube halaya is made from a purple yam (fresh or from powdered ube that you can buy from Asian stores). I love this stuff in my halo-halo but the last time I made some was when I was 12 years old during our Christmas party at school. My father always plants them on his garden. We eat them boiled, added to vegetable (viands) dishes, it has so many uses just like the sweet potato but it’s more expensive though.

I like them in binignit or guinataan (Filipino fruit stew). Mama likes to use them on her vegetable with and coconut milk and some meat. Their delicious and I hope I can find a fresh purple yam in International on my next visit. I will also try to make ube halaya and will see if I can still remember to the recipe.

Relocation Updates

Joe has 1 more cycle at work and after that it’s over. We still don’t have any news about the relocation thing. We have no idea when exactly were moving out but I am hoping it will be soon because I am excited and would like for it to be over. I still have so many worries and I can’t wait for everything to be over and we can start life once again in a new place and house.


I stopped looking for a job and called a friend instead. She promised me a job if ever we will not move to other state. I would really love to move out from Georgia. I am not very crazy in this state anymore and we are ready to get out. I would love to live in Seattle, Washington or Winston Salem, North Carolina either the two states would do. I hope God will answer all our prayers very soon.

I was browsing online for a new cell phone because my father is now begging me to get him a new one. I bought the cell phone that his now using and it was long time ago. Thursday Night Rant

I’m tired surfing the net for the name of my new found creature that lurking around my butterfly bush. I have no idea what’s name the of this green spider. It’s pretty big and scary. I tried to touch it but it never moved a muscle. It looks harmless but because it’s too big…the kid’s was scared to even get closer . If anyone here knows the name, please let me know.


Anyway, my Thursday is pretty boring. We went out to eat dinner and that was it. How I wish I’m in the Philippines right now so I can join my grandmother for her 80th birthday celebration and see some of the relatives. I need to call later and greet her a happy birthday. I hope she like her surprises. We miss her a lot and we hope we can visit Philippines and see her once again. Happy Birthday Lola!

Binangkal

I made the binangkal (no idea what the English term for it) the other day and it was not very good unlike the first time I made them. It was hard, too greasy and has some weird taste in it. The recipe that I used was taken from one of the food blogs online. I used to have this recipe that a friend shared long time ago but it’s nowhere to be found.

I miss and like this afternoon treat. I remember an old neighbor who sale these treats every afternoon around the neighborhood. It was like PHP1.00 each before and I don’t have the idea how much it cost now. I like binangkal with lots of sesame seeds on it. It doesn’t need to be sweet, I like it soft inside and crispy outside. Yum!

Binangkal- It is a mixture of flour and water, little bit of oil and brown sugar. Shape it in balls and roll in sesame seeds before frying in moderate hot oil.

Blame It to Poverty

I was watching the Philippines news this morning and I was speechless when I saw what a mother did to her 3 young children's. She poisoned her children’s using a toilet cleaner and then committed suicide after. Poverty was the reason of the whole thing and that she never had any mental problem.


Neighbor’s and some government officials were flocking in the funeral and felt sorry for the mother and children’s but their helps and sympathies are now nothing because they cannot bring them back. This kind of news is very sad indeed and I hope people around will be more generous and the government should do something about the growing rates of poverty.


I love my country Philippines but I cannot stomach the ways of the government is now running. The poor become poorer and the rich become richer. Most of the people I knew, are now trying to get out in the country and try their luck outside Philippines. This is very sad but people need to live and everyday is now a survival. Sad indeed.

Work at Chatsworth,CA

I was not able to sleep last night thinking about the job opening for hubby in Chatsworth, Los Angeles California. I have no idea where exactly the place is but my worries got worse when I tried to browsed about it and found that it is known mainly as the unofficial “capital” of the American pornography trade. I was static and dropped jaw after reading about it and I cannot imagine living in such place where some big and famous actors and actresses used to live.




I still don’t have any idea and we’ve never talk too much about it. But if we have no choice then we might go move to Chatsworth next month. I do not like the idea but I hope things will be for the better. It’s scary and I don’t feel secure on this idea but what else I can do but to go where the job is waiting. Wish us luck.

Sad and Upset

I’ve just finished talking to hubby and now I feel like crap. He has 2 more cycle left at work and still no news about the whole relocation thing. But tonight, they’ve posted two opening in Chicago which we’ve turned down and in Chatsworth, CA but we have to pay for all our moving expenses. It’s not very promising because his still need to apply and we have no idea if we can afford the moving expenses. I feel bad that I cannot honestly tell hubby what I think about it because frankly speaking I am speechless and no idea what’s the best thing for us to do.


My worries are getting worse everyday. I just hope that we will get one of the job openings in other plants. I am sick and frustrated with the whole thing. I don’t know if I need to continue packing our stuff or quit and start crying till’ I drop.

Futures Trading

My husband has three more cycles left on his job and after that we are ready to go wherever the company decided us to go. Unfortunately, until this very moment we still don’t have any clue or information about the relocation. I am getting worried and a bit frustrated because of all the uncertainties. I have started packing our stuffs which I hate most because I don’t like to leave this house. I guess, there’s no reasons to get worried too much this time and I better pull myself straight and do what I usually do to keep my mind at peace. I have plenty of errands and chores waiting but I better check the futures trading first and I will see you all tomorrow.

I took a spelling test at blogthing and happy to see a good result. It’s not a perfect score but it’s a good percentage enough to go on with blogging. I am not too crazy about spelling test during my school days, especially if its a long words and not often used in daily basis.


I still remember the word “rendezvous” when I was in first grade. What do you expect a first grader will write? Everyday we had a spelling test and it was like hell for me because I am damn as a sack of peanut “Hahaaha”. Anyway, I am not bad in spelling anymore and I make everyday a learning day. Dynamic Life Protection

A self- reality check makes me think and plan about the future of my family, financially and peace of mind. No one is getting any younger and live an everlasting life, so planning ahead financially is the best decision to prioritize based on today’s economic situations. I have ideas what to do but it would be better if my best friend Jesse who is a financial advisor could lighten up my bothersome future plans. Since, Jesse is a family friend and my best friend as well, he would definitely give me the best wise advice. The family savings is growing little slowly because of increase in household spending due to high price of goods and services. I’ve discussed with my husband regarding our properties and retirement pensions, that it may be not enough to sustain us in the future.


When I discussed these issues to Jesse, we started talking about the Mortgage Protection, this will protect our precious home and some of our assets. It is like a life insurance, like in the event that either I or my husband will die, it would mean our income would reduce and paying the mortgage is a burden. With the mortgage protection, our family will continue living in our home and less burden to my living family. Aside from home protection, Jesse also introduces the Disability Insurance. We could not foresee that our future is physically healthy and able. In times of disability, our ability to earned income is reduce thus we could not pay our mortgages, bills and even monthly income is not enough to sustain the family needs.


Jesse advice that we should also consider the disability insurance policy that also help paid our mortgages, and others that need to be paid. Another important and interesting investment is Annuities. He explained for example the family retirement pension and savings are fixed or increase very slow surpass by the future increase in the price of goods and services. That is, we will live poorer in the future, but this should not happen with the annuity on hand. The annuity is a saving option, additional money to your unearned income, thus, future finances are secured.

Every time we go to the International store, we always like to pick a new type of drink “for heck of curiosity”. I am not too adventurous with it but for sake of my husband curiosity I go with his weird ideas. The last time we went to the store, he picked these vita malt drinks and holy coyote when that drinks touches his mouth…he was giving me all the weird facial expressions. I have no idea what it taste like, now that he told me that it was not what he expected. I still have 5 bottles left in the fridge and who knows who’s going to drink it all. I guess, I should try a sip and maybe I can tell you what it really tastes like. Wish me luck.
